Learn to Use an Electric Meter

Learn how to operate an electronic meters!  In this hour and a half interactive demonstration participants will learn about the notions of voltage, current

and resistance from instructor Shannon Vance. This knowledge is key to understanding how to use a multi-meter and will be used in the second part of the class where each function of a

meter is explored and some simple procedures will be developed. This program will take place on January 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hood River Library.

Common at home uses for electric meters include:

  • Testing outlets for proper wiring
  • Measuring battery voltage – from watch batteries all the way to auto batteries
  • Testing for wiring shorts or breakages
  • Measuring the amount of current a device draws

Shannon Vance is the owner of Greenlight Development, a software company that provides custom solutions for a wide variety of websites.

Before he established Greenlight, Shannon worked for over 20 years as an EE embedded developer in the telecom test instrumentation field.

This program is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the Hood River County Library District at 541-386-2535info@hoodriverlibrary.org, or visit their website at http://hoodriverlibrary.org
